Dr. Robert Lahita is a board-certified rheumatologist and Director of the Institute for Autoimmune and Rheumatic Diseases at St. Joseph’s Health. With more than five decades of clinical and academic experience, Dr. Lahita is internationally recognized for his expertise in autoimmune diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus and connective tissue disorders. His dedication to advancing the field is reflected in his authorship of over 150 scientific publications and 16 books on rheumatology and internal medicine. Known for his compassionate approach and academic excellence, Dr. Lahita continues to provide comprehensive, personalized care to patients with complex autoimmune conditions.

Dr. Lahita earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at New York Hospital–Cornell and pursued fellowship training in rheumatology at Rockefeller University Hospital.
