Dr. Silvio Podda serves as Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery and Director of the Plastic Surgery Residency Program at St. Joseph’s Health. A globally recognized leader in plastic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Podda specializes in congenital pediatric pathologies and facial aesthetic procedures. With advanced training in general surgery, pediatric surgery, and plastic and reconstructive surgery, he brings a rare depth of expertise to both functional and aesthetic patient care.

Originally from Sardinia, Italy, Dr. Podda is fluent in English, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. His global humanitarian impact includes over 30 medical missions across multiple continents, where he has provided life-changing care to children with congenital deformities. His clinical and humanitarian work has earned him numerous international awards and honors.

Dr. Podda earned his medical degree from Università degli Studi di Cagliari. He completed his general surgery internship and residency at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital, followed by residency training in pediatric surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital. He went on to complete multiple fellowships and residencies in plastic surgery at Westchester County Medical Center, NYU School of Medicine, and the Children’s Hospital of Michigan.
